Andrews is the county seat of Andrews County, about 30 miles east of New Mexico, with 13,487 people at the 2020 census. It was incorporated on February 2, 1937, and has a semiarid climate.

Named for the first Texan to fall

Both the city and the county are named for Richard Andrews, the first Texan soldier to die in the Texas Revolution. Andrews sits on the far southwestern edge of the High Plains, and the town grew with the oil fields around it.
